The Afghanistan Infrastructure Trust Fund or AITF provides an opportunity for bilateral, multilateral, and individual contributors to partner with ADB in financing infrastructure investments and improve the livelihood of the Afghan people. The key areas of need are stronger transport links, energy facilities and security, irrigation systems, development of mineral resources, and private sector development.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) placed on hold its assistance in Afghanistan effective 15 August 2021.
