Nonsovereign cofinancing. The Trade and Supply Chain Finance Program (TSCFP) supported over 50 transactions valued at $15 million with banks domiciled in Thailand from inception to December 2022. During the same period, the TSCFP supported over 1,470 Thai exports and/or imports valued at $359.9 million. In 2022 alone, the TSCFP supported 27 transactions valued at $10.9 million with banks domiciled in Thailand and supported 259 Thai exports and/or imports valued at $70.5 million. Exports and/or imports were mainly to/from Viet Nam, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Underlying goods involved mostly raw and non-energy commodities, food and agriculture-related goods, as well as consumer goods.
Special funds. Thailand contributes to ADB special funds where contributions from financing partners are administered with the same level of care as ADB’s own resources. Since becoming a member in 1966, Thailand has committed a total of $23.1 million to special funds, of which $21.6 million went to the Asian Development Fund (ADF). The ADF provides grants to ADB’s low-income developing member countries to promote poverty reduction and improvements in the quality of life.
Knowledge. ADB and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization co-organized a side event at COP27 about applying Article 6 in Asia and the Pacific. Learning from the experiences of the Government of Thailand, along with other partners, the event sought to highlight the work undertaken in operationalizing Article 6 and what needs to be done moving forward, particularly post the adoption of Article 6 Rules.
