Bloomberg Philanthropies invests in 700 cities and 150 countries around the world to ensure better, longer lives for the greatest number of people. The organization focuses on creating lasting change in five key areas: the arts, education, environment, government innovation, and public health. Bloomberg Philanthropies encompasses all of Michael R. Bloomberg’s giving, including his foundation, corporate, and personal philanthropy as well as Bloomberg Associates, a philanthropic consultancy that advises cities around the world.

In February 2022, the foundation committed a grant contribution of $12.5 million to the ADB-administered Climate Innovation and Development Fund (CIDF). The CIDF was established in February 2022 to support innovative nonsovereign climate change projects in South and Southeast Asia. Its purpose is to support sustainable low-carbon economic development in developing countries in South and Southeast Asia by increasing the pace, scale, and ambition of climate solutions and contributing to the clean energy transition.

Knowledge. The Helping Save Lives from Road Crashes in Asia-Pacific webinar series in February 2022 is a comprehensive training on safer road infrastructure toward eliminating high-risk roads and in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goal of halving road deaths and injuries by 2030. Bloomberg Philanthropies is one of the partners who co-organized this capacity-building initiative with ADB.

ADB and TPDDL, the distribution arm of Tata Power, entered into an agreement to subscribe to nonconvertible debentures for ₹1.5 billion (equivalent to $18.2 million) to enhance Delhi’s power distribution through grid enhancements, and a $2 million grant to partially finance the purchase and integration of a pilot battery energy storage system.

ADB signed a $107 million financing project with BIM Wind Power Joint Stock Company (BIM Wind) to support the operation of an 88-megawatt wind farm in Ninh Thuan province, Viet Nam.
